JohnStacy is a Midland, Tx based session musician, composer and arranger. Although he is classically trained, he has extensive experience in many styles, most notably jazz.
A former Texas All-State band member, he attended West Texas A&M University, studying music eduction and composition. While there, he studied composition under Dr. BJ Brooks and horn under Dr. Guglielmo Manfredi. In addition to the WTAMU Symphonic band and Symphony Orchestra, he also performed frequently with WTAMU Jazz 1 and the smaller Jazz Combo 1.
After graduation, JohnStacy served as a band director - head director with Clarendon CISD, and assistant director with Hereford ISD.
While teaching, he returned to WTAMU to pursue a Master’s degree in music composition, culminating in the beginning of the How to Save the World in 20 Minutes or Less series of video game inspired compositions.
As a session musician, JohnStacy is equally comfortable in his own studio and studios around the globe. He can be heard on a number of game soundtracks and game music related publications, notably Mortal Kombat 11 and The Legend of Tangledeep: Puzzle Explorers. An advocate for the advancement of game music as an art form, he is an active member of both Materia Collective and OverClocked ReMix.
Outside of music, JohnStacy enjoys studying languages, writing, old video games, and spending time with his wife Lauren and dogs Mahler and Elise.
